  • Fast, Fair & Friendly
Family sitting in front of their house

We are Standard Casualty Company, the leader in providing you with Fast, Fair and Friendly Claim Service. The primary reason you purchase mobile home insurance is for the protection of your financial assets in case of physical loss or damage to your manufactured or modular home and the personal belongings and property they protect. Why are we the leader? Just ask A.M. Best, a company that evaluates insurance companies, they've deemed our financial stability as "Excellent" for our financial strength and claims paying ability.

What makes us best is that we specialize in manufactured, factory built, and mobile home insurance, and we have an on-site staff with years of experience, which allows us to be fast and effective. We handled our entire hurricane Ike claims within 60 days while maintaining a 95% excellent rating by all claimants, if that's not fast, fair and friendly service, what is?

    Experience = Faster Recovery

Our claims staff has the experience and training to assist you in promptly resolving your claim. Every member of our staff has been with us for 10 or more years, every single one! Our talented and dedicated Vice President of Underwriting and Claims, Terry DePhillips, has been with us for 30 years. Our adjusters settle over 80% of the losses they inspect on their very first visit, and maintain a 95% rating of excellence from our customers. This means quicker, easier, and more effective recovery for you, so you can get back to a normal life sooner, rather than later.

    Fraud Hurts

Fraudulent claims cost all of us. We thoroughly investigate fraudulent claims and cooperate with the authorities on the prosecution of fraudulent claims. Fraudulent claims hurt you, the policyholder, because they unnecessarily push up the cost of items like premiums and deductibles. This is why our premiums and deductibles stay so low. We diligently investigate any and all such claims.

    Claim Service

Our goal is to offer excellent claim service. To ensure that our claim service is Fast, Fair and Friendly, we encourage feedback from you, telling us how well we are doing. After all, we do work for you, a fact we never forget. This is why we've instituted our survey policy. We survey each and every claim we process so we can honestly assess our customer service department, and thus far it's been nearly unanimous, they're EXCELLENT!

Standard Casualty Company has the people to give you the service you expect. To request additional information, please contact us or call us at 1-800-522-0146.

  • Listed below are some of the more frequent questions our customers ask.

How do I report a claim?

The easiest way is by calling 1-800-522-0146 during normal business hours. Also, you can report a claim on this web site or Fax your Claim to 830-629-3468, and you will receive a call from us within the next two business days.

    What is my deductible?

Your deductible amount can be located on the declaration page or the deductible endorsement and can vary depending on the cause of the damage. The deductible amount is subtracted from the amount of the damage, the limit of liability specified on the declaration page or the specific special limit of coverage liability within the policy, whichever is least.

Once I have been paid for damages to my home, who will complete the repairs?

As owner, the choice of a contractor is yours. Any specific question regarding repairs that you or your contractor may have should be directed to the adjuster that inspected your home.

Your lienholder is the entity that loaned you the money to purchase your home and carries a fiduciary interest. Your policy has a clause requiring the lienholder be included on any payment for damage to your home. You should contact the lienholder directly after a loss to inquire about their procedures for check endorsement.

Who does the temporary repairs to my home when needed after damage occurs?

Your policy states that the insured should use all reasonable means to protect the property from further damage following an event causing damage to your home. Any reasonable costs incurred will be reimbursed to you; receipts should be given to the adjuster that inspects your home. For example, if a windstorm damages your shingle roof, coverings should be used on damaged areas to prevent rain leakage after the storm passes.

    What is recoverable depreciation?

The Company offers replacement cost endorsements for your home and contents. If your policy includes these endorsements, any loss over $2500 is initially paid on an actual cash value basis (replacement cost less depreciation) until repairs are complete or replacement has occurred. Once the damaged property is repaired or replaced, the invoices or receipts should be sent to us for reimbursement up to the recoverable depreciation amount.

  • You and your family's personal safety and the safety of your property are two of your most important considerations. To create a safe environment you must have the right mental attitude about safety. Think and act as "Safety is MY Responsibility". The mere act of you taking responsibility is the first step in improving the safety of your environment.

Things you can do around your home to improve safety are:

    Exterior of your home

    • Quality locks on all exterior doors
    • Don't leave windows open, but if you do make sure you have tamper resistant screens on all open windows
    • Automated exterior lighting
    • Don't create hiding places by your home, use smaller plants and shrubs next to your home
    • Maintain the premises and keep it free of debris and clutter
    • Have the entrance to your property well identified (street address highly visible day or night), so it's easy to find by emergency personnel such as fire and police
    • Install a 24-hour monitored alarm (burglary, smoke and fire) system

    Interior of your home

    • Install smoke detectors throughout your home, if applicable, change the batteries per manufacturer's recommendation, but a minimum of at least once a year
    • Create a fire escape plan and practice it, make sure everyone knows it and where to immediately meet after the escape, so you can make sure everyone has gotten out
    • Be particularly careful of:
      • Old or damaged electric cords
      • Too many electric cords plugged into any outlet
      • Space heaters
      • Active or hot cooking surfaces, stoves and fire places
      • Lit candles left unattended
      • Lighters and matches
      • Flammable items next to a heat source
      • Extremely flammable liquids should be kept outside the home in an enclosed and ventilated structure that is located away from the home
    • Have your air conditioning system (heating and/or cooling) serviced twice a year and change the filter(s) regularly
    • Clean your clothes dryer's filter after every use
    • Fix any minor problem (electrical, plumbing and/or structural) before it becomes a major problem
    • Keep hallways, doorways and exits free of clutter

These recommendations are just a few of the things you can do to improve your safety. You should also check with your local emergency services (fire and police) for additional suggestions. Some emergency services offer free courtesy inspections of your home and premises.

Remember: think and act, "Safety is MY Responsibility".
